ETA opportunities assessment
Problem:
Bremworth carpets wanted to investigate opportunities to improve their energy efficiency and reduce the consumption of natural gas at their Whanganui and Napier plants, to help them progress towards their energy efficiency and carbon reduction goals.
Solution:
Lumen worked with Bremworth Carpets to produce an Energy Transition Accelerator (ETA) opportunities assessment, including an assessment of new process heat technology.
We recommended various feasible energy efficiency, process change, and fuel switching opportunities.
Results:
As a result, Bremworth carpets was able to access government funding to support the installation of a 150kW radio frequency dryer at their Whanganui plant to replace a 400kW direct gas-fired dryer.
This has improved their energy efficiency on site and prevents the discharge of around 200 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent per year.
