Lyttleton Port Company

Lyttelton Port Company is the largest Port in the South Island of New Zealand.

Electricity Tender

Problem:

Lyttelton Port had a fixed term electricity supply contract that was expiring and wanted to tender its supply of electricity contract to get the best market rates

Solution:

Lumen undertook the request for proposal (RFP) process for Lyttelton Port and received time of use (TOU) offers and non-time of use (NTOU) responses from 4 electricity retailers including 10-year fixed term offers. We carried out price analysis using historical energy consumption and the offered rates but also went through a detailed non-price evaluation looking at renewable energy certificates and electric vehicle charging support. We provided our recommendations in a presentation to senior leadership.

Results:

We managed to secure a suitable supply contract for Lyttelton Port through a competitive tender process that evaluated price and non-price attributes.
