Meadow Mushrooms

Lumen has been working with Meadow Mushrooms, New Zealand’s leading mushroom grower since 2014. During this time, we’ve provided various services, including energy audits, design advice, energy procurement and a solar PV feasibility study. Most recently, we carried out a boiler replacement feasibility study.

Steam Boiler Feasibility Study

Problem:

Meadow Mushrooms wanted to replace their diesel steam boiler with a low carbon alternative to reduce their carbon footprint as part of their wider sustainability plan.

Solution:

Lumen carried out a boiler replacement feasibility study to investigate various replacement options and identify the best technology to meet the needs of Meadow Mushrooms.

We also supported Meadow Mushrooms with the development of a business case & government co-funding application to support the project.

Results:

The co-funding application was successful, supporting Meadow Mushrooms to install their new low-carbon electric boiler.

The replacement prevents the discharge of around 1,600 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent greenhouse gas emissions per year and supports significant operating cost savings.
